I rarely drive my 69 at night but on a couple occasions when I have, the headlights will blink from on to off after the car has heated up. I thought it might be the dimmer switch so I replaced it but the problem persists. All other lights are fine including side lamps, tail lights and dash lights. Ive checked ground wires etc and cant seem to find the issue. For information, all wiring harnesses are new. A couple of years ago I replaced the head light switch and got a defective one. It was replaced. Any ideas would be appreciated.
i would start again with the headlight switch. the "new" reproduction switches are very cheaply made (and like you the first one i got was bad also). if you are certain all the ground connections are good, i would take a real close look at the bulb sockets next. they tend to corrode pretty badly and the wires connected to the sockets themselves fray and make poor contact. i had a bad connector, and just figured it was better to replace them all. i would think if ALL the headlights behave the same, then it is somewhere further down the harness that is causing it in the headlight circuit.
