C ................... third week
105542.............VIN Number
64I(I)*..............interior trim (Camel Leather)
*could be stamped 641, 64I or 642
74L, 74U ....exterior color(s) Dark Bronze Metallic Lower
Dark Bronze Metallic Upper
E.....................Enamel Paint (base coat clear coat)
The 64I just indicates that the interior was Camel, but not that it was leather.
To the best of my knowledge, the interior trim code on all 81 trim tags ended in an "I".
The order code for Camel leather was 642, and for Camel Cloth it was 64C, but all 81's with a Camel interior showed the trim code as 64I. Without a build sheet or window sticker, it's impossible to tell whether an 81 came with a cloth or leather interior.
The 74L 74U does indicate a solid colored Dark Bronze 81. If your car had been a Bowling Green two-tone in Beige over the Dark Bronze, the tag would still show 74L 74U, but would be followed by 50M to indicate the Beige upper color of the two-tone combination.
My car was built the same week, 110 cars before VITMNC8 and three cars before Z51Jeff. Crazy to discover this out of 40,000 81 cars built! My car is now dark blue with black interior. I just got it today.
