Default Best way to read forums

I've been lurking, and I'm about to recover my dad's 76.

I really want to read all the posts in the C3 forums. What's the best way to get a list of all posts?

Welcome aboard. Can you tell us about the car? What does it need done? What would you like to do with it? All original or change it up a bit? What are your skills and budget?
If you have specific areas you want to learn about, you can search for posts on that subject.
There is a great bunch of folks that will be happy to help you if you have specific questions.
Also: We like photos Get some pictures of the car and post them.
Congrat's on the car. That is sweet that you are getting it from your dad.

Default About the car

Well, he bought it brand new, I wasn't even 2.
Silver L82. 45k miles. He bought a "big boy" car in '85 and then let it sit forever. I think it was about 10 years ago when he gave it to his friend to keep in his barn.

Never wrecked, sun damage, no modifications. I'd like to do a full frame off restoration. I don't care about pure original, but I do want it to look the same (probably not silver though). Would like a little more power.

I actually remember when he would pick up me and my sister up and I would ride in the back cargo area. When I got bigger I would sit in "the middle". 4 speed, blah blah.

I'm not looking to do it quickly, I'm looking for a multi year project, and I can do everything myself except I will have someone else do body work.

I've REALLY enjoyed reading here and I look forward to participating.

And, my budget will be whatever is necessary. If I don't have enough at the time, I'll wait.

As far as reading posts, I see how I can subscribe to a forum, but then what? How do I just get a list of all new posts/replies on my subscription?

use the search option in this forum,
it will answer most of your questions, for background Info.
after searching, and learning the basics,
you will then be able to ask some specific questions.

Thanks for the info... I think I misstated my question though.

I know how to search, I'm wondering how I can make sure that I read EVERY new post/reply in this forum?

Towards the top right of the forums section - where it shows all topics in the "C3 General" forums area you will see a drop down menu called "Forum Tools". It's right next to the "Search this Forum". Click the little blue arrow next to Forums Tools and choose "Subscribe to This Forum". I "think" that will give you email notification of all posts made in this section.

Welcome and good luck with you project! We expect LOTS of photos

Adam

I just check the forum every day because I have no life and right now I don't have a corvette to work on :-)
If you are going to be checking every day then you should not miss anything. Post appear in order of activity so new posts go to the top and then are bumped down as newer posts come in or comments are made to bring them back. (I just bumped your post to the top)
I just come here and start reading at the top and keep going until stuff is no longer new.
I think it is interesting also to go to the list of posts and then click on the column header
"replies" and sort them in order of most replies first. You can learn a lot by finding some older posts that had a lot of activity.
Also, when you start the process it is nice to have a restoration thread. We like to follow along on your journey and it is nice when you are done to have all of your info. in one place. If somebody wants to know about your car, you can send them there. TAKE A LOT OF PHOTOS!! You will be glad you did and we enjoy them also.
Any specific questions you want to start out with?

New posts are usually at the top of the page, older posts toward the bottom. They're dated.

You will also see page numbers at the bottom of the page and can move on to those by clicking the page number. 1007 pages of posts.

My advice is not to knock yourself out. I would be surprised if anyone has the time to read every new post. You almost have to become selective.
