81 corvette ac condenser
Recently looked at an 81 corvette. The passenger side fender vent was heat damaged. I looked in through the opening in the body and saw what I think was the ac condenser. The side of the unit was blackened like it had caught fire or overheated. Has anyone else seen or experienced something similar to this?

If you were looking through the vent in the side of the fender (in the area behind the right front tire), it was not the condenser you were looking at, as the condenser is in front of the radiator. It would be the heater box/exchanger that you would see in that area.
I can't imagine there's enough heat in there normally, to char or burn the box. There may have been some sort of fire in the car at sometime, or is it possible that it was just a build up of oil and dirt?
