So I had never heard of this. Apperently it is normal for autobody shops to rent out one or more of their booths to the public. I was told about this today called around to find prices. found that for $80 average you get three hours in a professional booth. So a full 9 hour day can be had in someone else's booth. With someone else's air guns, hoses, compressors headache ect for $240. This is awesome! And for an additional $130 they will put your car in the heat box. The only problem is I don't have a covered trailer to get the car from both to my house with out bugs, rocks, ect ruining my fresh paint. So I will still be harping off te garage and doing it at home but thought I would share. Just in case anyone else had never heard of this either
Had I thought of calling about this previously and found out 3 months ago. What I know now I would be renting their booth. Paying to let the car dry in their facility and wet sand reshoot dry repeat clear coat. I didnt though and my dad is in town to paint my 79 next week. So we are doing the car now and the additional funds are not there to move the project that has already started to a booth else where.
I don't know of that happening here on the east coast, but it would be fun to have the opportunity!
As far as transporting, the Dupont Chromaclear that I work with is ready for delivery in 6 hours. If you have access to a heat room, I think that time is only 2 or 3 hours. I think you could let it sit at the body shop a few hours, even if they wanted a few dollars more. I would think they would want the publicity of a nice, freshly painted C 3 on their lot.
