First Drive since 1981!!!
Greetings All
Last August I picked up a 68 Corvette that my best friend from High School had owned (he had passed away unexpectedly). We had a lot of history in that car. It truly qualified as a "Barn Find" since he had parked the car in 1981 in his Mom's barn. Well she rides again as I took her out last night for first time since 1981. Because of this cars special meaning to me, you will never know what this felt like as I backed out into the street... and yes his picture was in the car as we left. BTW the 4 police cars that you see in video were out running radar on the next street over.... that somehow just seemed appropriate... but this time they were not after us.

John, I was so eager to see the car, i did not acknowledge the story. I can only imagine the feeling - perhaps bittersweet, but I'll bet he is riding shotgun with you! Not sure what your plans are for the car and what it needs, but were you lucky enough to drop a new battery in and she cranked over ? Good luck with the car. I'm sure it has sentimental value beyond the thrill of owning a C3!

Yes it is special... t think in 75 or 76 we had made a road trip to Denver, top down, he looked at me smiled and said "we are driving a Corvette on Colfax!"
Anyway car did start after all the usual, taking my time, lots of time to prelube the engine, cleaning fuel system, kit carburetor, calipers, brakes, rtires, clean clean clean, you know the usual. Lots more to do... but a great start
yes, Lemans Blue, Bright Blue interior, 327/350 hp, 4 speed, 3.55 gears, power steering, manual brakes and came from factory with redlines, still has original spare.
