Default My Corvette can weld.....

....the bearing race right to the spindle, that is. From the time I first heard what sounded like a rear bearing, a light bump, bump coming from the rear that increased in tempo with increased speed, until the bearing seized was about less than ten miles. Must have been going out before that and my hearing was not to good. Anyway, loaded it onto a flat bed and took it to my usual shop. They pulled the left rear and that thing was COOKED. Gonna' have to replace the spindle of course. Doing the right side at the same time. I suppose all the vendors spindles are Chinese. Any experience with where to get spindles?

Wow. It's a good thing you didn't loose control of the car!

First of all, I'm glad you are safe and sound.

Secondly, sure your 'vette can weld, but can it make a martini? That would really impress me!

Keep the shiny side up!

Yep, doing the left side as well. Also new shocks and new bushings/ball joints etc. in the front end. Brakes are good all around so can skip that for now. I bought this car about three years ago and have been pecking away at stuff that needed to be done. Started with a rebuild of the original engine. The PO had quite a few receipts of things he had done but then you never know what else needs attention. But what the heck, better spending my money on the Vette than useless stuff like a new paint job on the house. (Fortunately my wife does not read the Corvette Forum)
