Default A/C question

I have installed the new heater core in the 77 and am preparing to remount the A/C evaporator box. I noticed that my new Delphi evap core has a decal which says if the car was originally equipped with a water condensating screen that the old one should be reinstalled, or a new one fitted. I don't recall seeing a screen of any sort on the long since recycled OE evap... is there supposed to be one???

On a side note I stopped the install today because I have found my "squirrel cage" heater blower to be full of leaves and debris... is there a best way to remove that cussed thing and where might all that crap have come from so I can repair the ingress hole???

77 didn't have any screen, just be sure your condensate drain is open and water will drip and drain thru it.

To remove the blower, there should be 3 5/16" hex head sheet metal screws around the fan motor, have to feel for them.
To keep leaves out the fan, there was a molded plastic screen at each end of the wiper tray under the fender, earlier years used wire mesh, sometimes called hardware cloth.
It's a good idea to stick a 1-1/2 or less vacuum hose down each side and vacuum all the years of crap that could be in there. I've found wrenches, sockets leaves, crud etc. Makes sure the drain slot is open and flush with a hose.

Thanks Noonie. Evap condensate leaves from the bottom of the case... where do the cowl drains exit? I suspect the RH side is chock full as the plastic screen on that side is broken in half.
