Long Shot - Anyone know my 69 Orange Corvette - NY, NJ, Fort Dix, Dentist?
Ok,
I have been trying to research my car, just for the hell of it. I bought it off a guys wife, the guy had passed away.
It had an old Ft. Dix sticker on it, the car was last registered in NY in 1985 and on the rear panel, bolted through the rear panel was a DDS Dentistry emblem, maybe someone was a Dentist on base?
How might I go about getting info on the car, or is it useless?
Thanks, Tim

I would contact the New York DMV with the 1985 registration information you have and see where that leads.
Have you asked the seller what she knows about the car?

...thought I would post again, in case this sounds familiar to anyone..
I own a 69 Corvette and am doing some research on it, a long shot I know but it does have a base sticker on it and was registered out of New York.
The 69 Corvette that spent most of its life off the road, in NY. It was last on the road in 1985. I certainly do not want to bother anyone, just thought it would be cool to know some of its history. It was a 350 350 4 Speed car with 4:11 gears. The car also came with a driveshaft loop, so perhaps was raced at one point. It has a Bethpage Chevy Dealership parts label on it, it was hit in the rear at one point and I believe the rear clip was replaced there - I believe the parts went to MidTown Chevy in NYC, but perhaps the owner or the car were from Bethpage or been there for service at some point. The car also had a DDS emblem on the rear panel and a Ft. Dix entry decal. Maybe someone was an Army dentist? I do believe there may have only been one owner of the car. I am restoring the car now, here are some before.
If this strikes a bell with anyone, please get in touch.
just found this, maybe this guy, as he had a Corvette would remember another one...

Most of the larger military bases have a base news letter or newspaper.
I'd get in touch with who ever handles media issues on base and make inquiries there. From there, run an ad... My guess is that someone will remember the dentist and/or the car.
