Hey guys, I need a picture to figure out what I'm missing from the front end of my 1970. I bought the car without the front bumper/grills, and a box full of brackets, and now I just need to see what I'm missing. The car was previously hit in the front end a little bit so I also would like to figure out what they did wrong under there, because the notch for the front bumper is not cut out like it should be so I'm just wondering what else is improper with the repair. For reference I'm looking for real pictures of this illustration.http://www.ecklerscorvette.com/asset...ette/A8120.jpg Thanks in advance for the support.
If I understand correctly do you want the pix of the bare fiberglass front end? I have taken many photos of my 72 restoration project, mainly because I need to look at them to visualize where it all goes back. The AIM manual helps, but nothing like real photos. I am wheeling my 72 out of the garage today to power wash the engine compt. the body is off the frame and on a dolly. All brackets that are in that picture from ecklers are removed.
I wish I could help you out, but somehow I did not take any pix in progress of the front end tear down. I guess I'll be relying on my AIM for reassembly.
I use pictures and rely on the AIM quite frequently while putting things back together. If you do not already have one, get it. The assembly instruction manual, AIM has tons of information. It includes exact part installation, torques, fluids and grease specs. Good luck, maybe someone else will have what you seek.
The Eckler's illustration is taken directly from the AIM or Corvette Parts and Illustration Catalogue.
My advice is to order the 1970 assembly instruction manual (AIM) and take a look at the factory diagrams of the front bumper installation. Using the AIM, you should be able to identify what's been left to you in the boxes and how/where they install.
The A8120 bracket shown in the Eckler's pic mounts on the end of the frame horn and extends to the backside of the corner bumper mount hole in the fender. It has a right side bracket to go with it.
AIM also shows how to mount your grilles.

From there, you need the "extention bracket", (8120 as you mentioned above) it goes from the end of that arm to the bumper. It`s just a short piece....
I`m not sure about the other piece, (27039) where it goes to on the bottom? http://willcoxcorvette.com/product_i...oducts_id=4024
Thanks guys I really appreciate it. I was able to figure out what parts I needed to order. It's so difficult trying to figure out what's NOT there if you've never seen one apart before. I bought the car with no grill, no bumper, no bumper gaurds, and no brackets. consequentially these are all the most expensive little pieces on the entire car.
Im glad you found what you needed. But trust me, they are not the most expensive parts on the car. Im half way thru the assembly stage of my car and it seems everything I wanted to do is a compromise between needs and wants. Consequentially the car is getting as many of the original parts reused vs upgraded to what I desire. Have fun, I am.
When I get the bill from the chromers I know I'm going to shed a tear or two lol. For such small pieces they really do add up though. I made sure to buy my rewards card from ecklers to make sure I get the discount seeing as I'll be ordering parts on a weekly basis.
