Cracked Glass T-Tops
Can the glass t-tops be repaired back to oem condition and if so anyone done this? I'm curious how they turned out and pricing. If not then are they really worth much in this condition?

I'm no glass expert, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it's time for replacemnts. Once glass is cracked, there's no going back.
It's true with drinking glasses, home windows, car windshields, and T-tops too, I'm afraid.

I tried to find an outlet where I could buy just the glass some time ago and pretty much not available to the general public. New tops are available. If you are looking to sell, you might get 'some' money out of them from someone looking for parts. If you want your tops repaired, you can send them in to places like Melrose tops and they will re-skin your tops. However, new tops are produced along with new frames. Generally people just buy new. They will come with new gaskets as well.
If you have to buy new tops, my suggestion would be to wait until memorial day weekend and I'm sure one of the Corvette suppliers will offer a good holiday discount and maybe free shipping. On a large item, 15% off could make a big difference, if you can get that much of a discount. Certain color tops are no longer available.

You could always cover them in Naugahyde and go for that 70s pimp look.

I tried to get tops to match factory but this is the closest I found. I'm not sure what weather stripping they use but my windows seal better then they ever did.
Call them I turned in my old tops for new. Cost was $700.00 cash. I went with smoked tops

Thanks for the replies everyone.
I checked online and there is a set of USED CORVETTE G.M. FACTORY M1131 MIRROR GLASS T-TOPS TOP for $1550.00 shipped. And they say "glass is in very nice condition". I remember when I bought new ones you had to purchase the weather stripping and hardware seperate, with tax it came close to $3000.00 about 27 years ago.
I don't believe you can't by new oem glass tops anymore........can you?
With that said I wondered how much it would be to reglass these ones. Yes I know they wouldn't be original anymore but I found a place that would do them for around $1000.00 for the pair.
If anything I could save the weatherstripping and hardware but what a waste if I can't save them.

Thompson Astro Tops will take your old ones a s cores and send you rebuilt units with acrylic lenses instead of glass for about $520/set with the cores. They are much lighter and come in smoke blue or bronze. There is a place that rebuilds them with the glass but I can't find it. I recall it was about $800- 900 per set. Yuo can buy a new set for $1200.00

Any update on cheaper T-tops?
Or that a new aftermarket Chinese windshield glass for some cars is under $100. Where is China when you could really use them? My $5000 C3 has both tops cracked. You can only see it close up, hell I didn't even notice it when I bought it, but I can't justify spending $1K on new ones. Pretty sure a Chinese glass factory could make them for $200 a set.

are both tops broken or which one.
I have two M1131's. Passenger and driver side. I don't call them a set because even thought the numbers are correct, the passenger side does not look as blue when looking from the inside out. Weather strip on the drivers side should likely be replaced, passenger side is not terrible.

If you have one bad, unless they are mostly new you have two bad. Get a used one (matching good luck) or just bite the bullet and go for broke. The sooner the better. Rip the band-aid off fast and do it...
Probably not allowed to link this. World we live in. Here is the ned GM licensed replacement. I decided not to get the dark smoke mirrored the car came with. Went with the galaxy. Cheers, rock on Crouton. Worth every penny, wish I would have got here 7 years sooner. for my Vet Vet.
