Default 76 gas guage question

On a 76 vette does the needle on the gas guage go to Empty when the key is turned off or does the needle stay wherever the guage reads with how much gas is in the tank.

From piston Convair ground school... AC "lies", DC "dies" ...AC powered stay "near" where they were.. DC goes to stop. ...

It goes to "E" when off and returns to the fuel level when energized

My '76 has been parked for a few days and it is showing about what I think I have in the tank.

my76ray.... thanks for the reply. Yours is like mine then. I couldn't remember if the guage went to E or just stayed at the level the gas guage shows how much is in the tank. I had a gas line fixed and when I got the car back I just couldnt remember. I know most cars the guage goes to E when the key is not on but on the 76 I think they all still read how much gas is in the tank with the key off. Any other people out there with a 76 and what does yours do?
