Default Seat Cushions

1969 Corvette. Purchased new foam seat cushions and covers. Dropped them off to a local upholster and picked up the drivers side today. The after market foam is denser or maybe a better word would be thicker than the original foam. The upholster showed me the original next to the passengers foam to be installed and it definitely had more mass to it. Installed the drivers seat today and actually like the feel and comfort. I sit a tad higher and am a tad closer to steering wheel and pedals but I like it. Just wondering if anyone else did the same thing on there 69 and their comments. By the way, I have the seat fully back to uts limit.

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but my current "seat" has A LOT more (m)*** that it used too...!

But seriously though, I installed new foam in my 72 seats, and it was significantly firmer, and thicker, than the old compressed 40 yr old foam that was in there. I felt I was sitting quite a bit higher, therefor my thighs were a little closer to the steering wheel. The seat backs were the same, so it put me a little closer to the dash and steering wheel as well.

More comfortable though!

my *** is as finely crafted as it was when i was a young buck....its the rest of me thats saggy......

i bet the old foam was the same shape and density as the new is 40 yrs ago. if it wasnt the seat cushion wouldnt fit properly and it does make a huge difference

40+ years and that old foam has lost alot of spring. Enjoy the new seats!

This is my first thing to get done this winter, then paint. I was really thinking of the Fiero seat option, I think new seat foam and leather covers is a better road to go down for me.

Glad to hear there is alot of enjoyment out of new seat foam though. I still have an in shape young 30 year old butt but it would like to sit in some new seats......

Old foam shrinks and compacts with age. New foam should make things better all around.
