Door striker bolt removal

Default Door striker bolt removal

I want to replace the driver's striker bolt on my '78. Do i just unscrew the bolt or there's a plate behind like the t-top's plate ?

Just unscrew it. There is a loose fitting plate behind it that should stay in place

Mark the position before you remove it. Helps with door alignment later on.

yep it is as easy as unscrew the old, transfer the washers from old to new and then screw the new one in. Mark, with grease pencil or something else the position b/c it will move once it is loosened.

I agree with those above. I found three options when doing mine. My originals were rusty and very nasty with old grease. There are original steel replacements available. There are stainless steel and also chrome.

I went for the stainless and I love them. Here is a shot of my stainless striker bolt on the far left:
