So after pulling the motor out and rebuilding it with all kinds of go fast goodies the brackets dont seem to work on the new intake. Im using the Edelbrock Performer EPS 2701 with a Summit carb. So besides having to figure out what bracket to use for the throttle and TV cables to make that work I have to decide if its worth it to try and figure out the cruise. So is it easy and im just over estimating it or is it a PITA?
I've had my 78 for almost a year and I have never used the CC feature. My reason is that I wasn't confident it would disengage.
I just removed the original AC from the car too. I only cruise when it's nice and then the tops are off. The entire passenger side of the engine compartment is wide open now. My current plans are not to replace the AC, maybe someday way down the road, not a priority though.
Personally, I like cruise when I'm on a highway that's not too busy. I also use mine on roads where the speed limit is lower than the road will handle. One in my area has a 40 mph limit and it is constructed just like all the others where the limit is 55. I set my cruise there because they patrol it often and the road just looks like you should be going 55. My wife actually got her only ticket in her life on that road and she was doing 55.
I had the same dilemma once. I also bombed my 81 and decided to totally remove every part of the cruise. Previously i did use it from time to time back when it had the 2.87 gears and it was actually a very nice smooth cruise control but I dont miss it now.
