Default Mono spring installation trouble

So I bought a Street and Slalom suspesion kit from Eklers. Good price, especially since I hit them on one of their sales. Problem is, since I know they got these parts from an outside vendor, customer service is bound to suffer. And since I ran into this issue on a Sunday, I thought I would ask here before spending all day on the phone with them.

I opened the box for my mono spring, and no instructions. Along with the spring was an aluminum spacer block.

So my first question is, does this block go above or below the spring?

Next problem, I went to mock it up, and the spring is wider than the support plate. Because of this, I can't get the bolts to align with the threaded holes in the diff.

Look at the picture below, and you'll see the bolts flared out over the spring.

The issue seems to be that the center mounting point of the spring has a lip.

So my second question is can I grind/file the plate on the center of the spring to get the bolt clearance? Anyone had this problem before?

There are 2 pumpkin covers. You have the narrow 78 up one. Your spring is for the earlier one. They will exchange it.

-W (had the same problem - my 68 pumpkin had a 78 cover on it)

I just went out and checked the box. It was labeled as 63-82. Also, the mounting plate they sent was exactly the same as my old one. So I checked Eckler's website, and they have some list some as 63-82 and some listed as 63-77. I wonder what gives. Guess I'll be one the phone with them tomorrow. I bought the part in August, so I'm not seure how accommodating they'll be.
