That hood liner looks pretty cool i'd love to have one but i'd have to lose my stock set up on my 73 as the rubber gasket from the breather to the hood would'nt work too well ...

If i were to get rid of the stock set up (air breather ) would it be better off performance wise?

Your 73 is the first of the cold air induction....and if it is functional it will add to the performance of your car....the solenoid will open and get cool air from the hood near the windshield .... if it's not working it won't matter.
but it is a cool unique thing about your 73....
