Hi-just joined the forum with our 1970 coupe. We live in New Zealand and Ive wondered if its possible to locate the original owner of our car.I would love to show him/her photos of the fully rebuilt vette that he bought new.I have a California certificate of title with VIN 19430S402085 which ad plate number 2QYU842.I dont know what the original colour was and note it was imported to New Zealand around 2005 where it was rebuilt. We recently replaced the front ball joints which were still the original riveted ones-42 years old!!.
The paint isnt original but is very very nice and turns heads wherever it goes.
Any help appreciated

Welcome to the forum. I dont know if California is like Texas but I went to our Dept of motor vehicles and paid a small fee and they did a title search of my VIN and printed it out and it gave me the name and adresses of all prior owners while the car was in Texas. You may wait until some of our california members check in.
You can try a title check with the California DMV; they may or may not be able to help. Many DMVs will not release prior owner personal information due to confidentiality laws.
Have you tried contactnig the person who sold the car to you to determine whether that person may know previous owners?
Factory paint and interior colors are on the trim tag on the driver's door hinge post.
