Default Quick Question

We just got ourselves a new project car, its a 1978 corvette. Where is the sticker or plate that tells what the options were for the car? Also, what technical manuals would you guys suggest? Thanks!

there is potentially a sticker on top of the gas tank. You can try looking throught the gas door but usually you have to drop the tank and there is no guarantee it is still there. order the the AIM manual and the factory repair manual from a corvette vendor such as Wilcox

As Mel said, looking on top of the gas tank can be hit and miss. You can order the original invoice, which will show all of the options the car had, from www.gmmediaarchive.com

Service manual? buy this:

The invoice you get for a 78 from GMmedia will look like this. It's how the car left the factory:

Who is we and what do we know about C3s? Have we worked on C3s in the past or is the 78 the first one? I'm not being an SOB, just looking to see what your experience level might be.

There isn't one. C4s have them; C3s do not.

...what technical manuals would you guys suggest?...
You will want an owner's manual, the assembly instruction manual (AIM), and the GM chassis service manual.

Good luck.

Haha, we means my father and myself. We have pretty decent restoring knowledge as we did a frame up of a 1952 Chevy 3100 series truck. Now as for C3 corvettes we lack knowledge. We got the car cheap so its a learning process. Thanks for the info!

Thank you. Previous posts offer good advice on where to start. My advice is to get the car safely drivable and drive it the rest of the summer and fall. Get acquainted with the car. As you drive it, you can begin to put together your list of things which need to be done right away (#1 priority), things which need to come after those (secondary), and things you want to do but are not critical (those can wait).

Good luck.
