A.C. Compressor Busted; but.
The A.C. compressor on my C3 has gone bad and a new one is about to be installed. My question is; if I run the belt on the old compressor with the clutch switch off or disconnected, will the junk from the old compressor continue to dirty-up the rest of the system. I need to drive to the shop for the A.C. work and I what to install the new A.C. belt before taking the car there.

It's not going to hurt your system to run the engine with the a/c belt connected unless there is damage to the clutch to where the pully will not free wheel on the compressor shaft. I would also disconnect the electrical connector from the compressor so you dont accidentally engage the a/c switch.
