One thing we're thinking with the car is that it had a new front clip put on, as the front end has orange paint under the crapass primer. The hood doesn't have a support at all, and that's one thing we need to get, but we're not 100% sure that the hood is a '77.
So, is the hood currently on the car original to '77? If not, any idea what year?
I'm not 100% that there's a new front clip, but the front of the car has orange paint under the incorrect primer, and the rear of the car does not. The bumper that was on it was a urethane '77 style (was stock urethane?).
The hood def looks like 80's style, but I kinda like it
Edit: oh and the 'we' is me and my fiance Bubbathegoat (he just joined last week)
The front end shows the shadow of having a 73-76 circular front end emblem (obviously wasnt a 73-4 with the straight nose cap). It does seem to have just an alarm key bezel and no Stingray script on the side though... Id like to see another pic of the side and interior.
Defintely an 80-82 hood.
Sport mirrors were not standard in '77, so that could be right, although its odd the W/S posts are completely stripped of the black.
Here's an image from a couple of years ago before the front bumper cracked and fell off.
Some backstory, my parents bought the car about 10 years ago from some dude who didn't know what he was doing. The car didn't have any emblems on it when we got it, didn't have paint and a lot of things were removed from the car (interior parts). It was $3500 then and was running and driving for awhile. My dad got a Mustang that was done, and so the vette sat, till now.
So, yes it had at one point the circular front emblem, still have it. VIN checks out as a '77 for sure, and the factory alarm is on the drivers fender. It's also (most likely) got the original motor and the block is orange.
I could prob sand the A pillars a bit and probably find black. I think the dude primered over everything for some reason.
There's also no interior courtesy of some curiosity of how bad the rust is, and some beer

The nose is definitely a 75-79. The hood could be either a 80-81, or 82. An 82 hood will have the cold air induction system.
Very early 77's, didn't have the crossed flag emblems on the front fenders, just the alarm switch on the left front fender. About a month or two into production, the flags were added to the fenders. Later in the year, the alarm switch was incorporated into the drivers door lock.
The chrome drivers side mirror was standard equipment through 79. The painted sport mirrors became standard in 1980.

I don't believe I have ever seen a 79 with anything other than dual sport mirrors. I thought 77 was the last year for the single chrome mirror. I'm too lazy to go look it up.

Dual Sport Mirrors were optional in 78 and 79. The RPO was D35 and there were 38,405 78's and another 48,211 79's, ordered with sport mirrors.
The sport mirrors were a mandatory option on the 78 Silver Anniversary Package RPO B2Z, and included with the 78 Pace Car Edition.
I was in Mexico a few years ago fishing and went into town to eat dinner. I ate a stake but it turned out to be from a goat named la palabra bubba. Should have stuck with Taco's. Good luck with your new venture.

Bubba is all over this car. Found some sort of putty holding A/C lines into the box where the blower fan is. Good thing I don't want A/C in it.
