Reading over your issues I'd say a botched radio install may be causing your other problems too.
I'd recommend taping off all the wires going to your radio and running all new ones. A $20 DMM or a light bulb with wires soldered to it will aid greatly in finding an ignition source (splice the wire from the ignition barrel or run one from the ignition fuse only), and find a decent earth point. Run the power wire direct to the battery (the earth could do the same) and tuck it under the center console until you strip the car in the winter. Don't forget a fuse on both hot wires if the radio doesn't have an onboard one.
Pull the dash, at least the middle and right side. I found at least a dozen bare wires, several broken ones, and may more spliced wires. Some of the splices did not even have electrical tape on them. I spent about 20 hours just figuring out what had been done and how I wanted to fix it. It was not safe and I am glad i took the time to do it right.
Sorry about your issues Dose11...... I think I remember an orange wire while doing my stereo install......I'll see if I can see it without taking anything apart...
Wow, hacking electrical wiring must be an Aphrodisiac for Bubba......it's like he can't stop.

Ehh, it's not too bad...I knew I wasn't buying I perfect car, nor did I pay perfect car money. I knew there would be some issues so I am not really worried. Radio still works tho, problem might be fixed...but we will see. Now come Winter time...we will see what is really going on with the car when I dig into her
