My LT1 has 70,400 miles and has been burning alot of oil
When the car is hot, and I stepp on it I do see occasional blue smoke - sometimes more then just occasional
My mechanic informed me that the valve seals are brittle, and need to all be replaced
Will this have caused the oil to burn?
With the new seals will I now be okay?
Thank You!!!
Smoke on accel is usually rings, bad valve seals smoke at start up or long periods of idle just my observations over last 45 years of working on corvettes.

mine smoked all the time, positive seal valve seals , 50 years workin' on everythin' , cheapest fix some times works best, nothings absoulute, also qualified it with "depending on engine condition"

this is correct , though, if your car is smoking all the time, time for a rebuild.

I agree....all of my C3's will soke at start up IF I leave them sit for more then a week.. heck my 76 would smoke if I let it sit more then a day because I replaced the valve seals (with Studebaker-Packard btw) none of the cars used any "noticable" oil at in between my 1000 to 2000 mile oil change intravals..
If you are using oil and see it out the back end when you get into the car with your right foot ..its the rings...
Up-date
Valve seals where all brittle and are all now changed
Mechanic thinks that they where the original seals
He did a air test and it shows that all is 100% with no leak
He thinks it should now be okay, but true test will be for me to check the oil and see
I am preying it is all good!!
Thanx again
