Default Head Rest Removal--69

I need help to remove headrest from the seat. Would like to send them for upholstery work.

Is there a hidden screw/bolt to remove in order to dislogdge headrest from seat?

From the photo of the seat, if I choose a seat cover from one of the vendors, would the vinyl, leather like, or leather match the pattern I have now.

Default Head rests.

To pull the headrest out of the back of the seat you would pull it up till it stops. Then rock it either left or right, I do not remember which, and continue to pull it out of the seat back. There is no screw or lever that holds it in. Only a notch in the metal part that goes into the seat back.

I rebuilt mine. I removed all the old foam, cleand the metal part as well as I could. Then puchased the foam and leather cover from a Corvette vendor. After the rebuild it looks as good as new. The only difference is that the leather cover has seams around the outer edges of the headrest. The original does not have the seams.

I can send some pictures if you would like.

Thanks Wayne,
I'll try the rock left or right tactic.
For the seat cover did you choose vinyl, leather like, or leather? Pics would be great when you get a chance.

Here are some pictures.

Old Headrest before tear down

After tear down

New foam installed

Finished product

I got the leather cover for the headrests. It faily simple to do.
Notice the hook at the end of the metal part that goes into the seat back.

I am encouraged-thank you for the pics and making it look easy. Ahh the little hook, I see what I have to do now.

From whom did you purchase the foam and cover--same vendor for seat covers? like pic of the seats if you have them.

I believe that I got the foam and covers from Riks Corvette. I get a lot of parts from that vendor. They also have a service where you can send in your old headrests and they will recover them to look like the original. I opted not to do that and to rebuild them myself.

The car is in the garage and I will back it out tomorrow and take a couple of shots of the seats.
