Ever since I bought this car seven years ago,I wanted to get rid of those hideous cheap chrome covers that I despised,still can't beleive it took this long...
A few years back,I picked up a set of stock L82 covers that kept moving from spot to spot in the shop,I finally decided if I didn't want to keep moving them and wanted to stem one of the oil leaks,I better just get them blasted,painted and installed.I used VHT wrinkle paint for a bit of texture,and some silverish touch up paint that was laying around for the fins.
A quick wash and that will do for now,it will take a lot more ambition and beer to take care of the next biggest mess,the front seal of the TH400 and diff pinion...
wow looks good.. i just cleaned / polished my engine bay a bit today, but wasn't able to do much with the valve covers. i dont really want to take them off tho, so they stayed a bit uncleaned for now.
Nothing wrong with the finish but reverse them. Emblem goes on the passenger side. mike...
I am in the process of changing valve covers from stock to ribbed.
(350 - '74 L48) Would it be practical to swap sides (like tfi shows)?
It would make adding oil easier.

Love those valve covers. Of course I could be biased! I painted mine with gloss black, not even high heat paint. they've held up well for 5 years so far.
Thanks for the reminder,Mike.I'm so used to the newer GM V8's with the oil fill on the front of the right side I never gave it a thought.My only problem now is do I swap them,or leave'em as is as a test...
