Can someone take a picture of the alternator bracket for a '78 or '79 with A/C? The previous owner did an engine swap from a '78 Corvette into my wife's '79. For the life of me, I can't figure out why the alternator sits back 1" too far and the belt won't line up. The water pump, power steering, and A/C compressor are all there and lined up, just the alternator isn't, so the balancer and other pulleys aren't the problem. Is there a spacer that belongs in between the head and alternator bracket?
There's no spacer or anything. I see no way to mount the bracket backwards either.
1" back? Which water pump/damper pulley groove are you using for the alternator?
Does the upper swing arm bracket mount to the water pump bolt or one of the lower alt bracket bolts?
I'll see if I have any pics handy.
