82 corvette will not charge
my 82 corvette will not charge .some times i race the engine it wii come up & stay until i shut it down then it will not charge again . alt & batt is new is there a relay some where

with engine running, should be between 13V & 14V.
with my tested alternator, I was at 11.9 to 12.2V with engine off and not much better with engine on.
changed out the alternator last night and with my 3 week old new battery, I now have 12.8V with engine off and 13.8, 13.9V with engine running. I was towed on Monday because of this condition and thought it was the wiper pulse module causing this, when all along it was the alternator, my wipers work great now, and so does everything else.....
you may have a faulty "new" alternator. hope this helps........Tom
PS....also re-check all of your connections......

Just a note: Not all alternators are made the same! Some alternator self exciting circuits do not "turn on" until you reach a certain RPM level. Once the circuit is energized it will stay so until the field breaks down which will happen after it has been shut down for a period of time. Or you may have a bad alternator out of the box.......
