If your talking about the shifter plate there are 4 screws at the corners. Unscrew the shift **** ( auto or manual) early years had fiberoptics that need to be removed as the bottom of the shift pate is lifted and early non AC cars have vent **** levers that need to be removed with a small Allen screw on the bottom side. The cig lighter power wire and light bulb need to be disconnected.

Work slowly. Everything is plastic.
Shifter **** will need to be removed and HVAC, windows, etc will need to be disconnected.
Purchase the assembly instruction manual (AIM). The AIM shows how the plate was installed.
