Default Help 77 corvette

I have a 77 corvette that has a starting problem I've replaced fuel lines the rubber ones, new carb new fuel pump and still have the same problem when the car sits for like 30 mins it has to turn over and over before it will start. Need help thanks

Sounds like it might have leak down (IE the bowl is draining). Have you had the carb rebuilt? I am asuming a Quadrajet.

Yes a guadrajet I bought a new re built one. When I first got the car it worked fine for like two months then it stared doing this so I've pulled all my hair out trying to solve this prob but no luck.

May have old seals in fuel pump.

Check for fuel percolation.After shutdown wait a few minutes and look down the carb throat to see if fuel is dripping down into the manifold.Carb gets heat soaked ,fuel boils over down into the manifold.Next time you start it the fuel bowl is empty and engine needs to be cranked a lot to fill the bowl with fuel.Today's ethanol blend fuel boils at a lower temp.If this is your problem install a heat shield and a thicker gasket,spacer.Good luck...

i would start with a spacer under the carb to see if that helps.. mine does the same thing.. new carb, distributor fuel pump... that spacer helped a huge amount....

read post # 2. I was going to suggest the check valve in the fuel filter as well but he's got even more betterer info.

Mine does the same. Hold accelerator pedal to the floor and attempt to start. It should start quicker with the pedal to the floor. If so carb. is causing a flooded condition. I have not sloved mine yet but will be looking at some type of over rich condition. If yours starts better with the pedal to the floor it might have the same condition. mike...

I'll try holding it wide open and see what happens i'm also honing to get a spacer today see if it helps any
