I always thought at first startup you need to break in the cam? And I would want some sort of exhaust system, if even just the manifolds so you can run it for 20 mins.

Gotta admit, it looked cool though

It helps to read the poster's comments about the video:

.........." A) It was impractical to mount the side mount headers and side pipes to the motor. B) Most articles out there show that studies have proven that they whole thing about bending valves when cool air is drawn in the exhaust ports is just a myth. C) Roller cam, not flat tappet... no break in."

Actually I did read the other posts, I dont trust anything on u-tube. did you have your coffee yet? I've seen warped valves in heads, its usually the ones that were open on shutdown, with no manifolds. but it was on older iron , My question was , are they making them better now. go have your coffee now so you can answer questions with good tech.

the most amazinig thing to me is that the guy isn't wearing ear-plugs! that's why he didn't connect an exhaust system-he's deaf and the only way he could tell if the engine was running was to watch the exhaust flares!

A thick stemmed, stainless valve and roller cam and wouldn't destroy the engine.

My problem is he fires it for the first time and revs the crap out of it. Regardless of valve train, I know full well the rings aren't seated yet. AND regardless of roller or not, there ain't no oil in the heads either!

A junkyard set of manifolds are $10. Heck, I have two or three sets just lying around here.

To answer the question, heck no, he can sell the engine to someone who doesn't know any better.
