no luck using search .......On the 78 when I turn the wipers on sometimes they work fine. Sometimes they will move up just alittle then sit back down . I then have to move the switch up and down a few times and they will work fine. Problem in the switch? Or something else? Thanks in advance...........
I'm going with the switch.... You can test the motor while on the car to eliminate it as the source. Just disconnect the wiper transmissions at the motor by removing the large nut shown by number 1 below. It is not the nut that holds the transmissions on to the bell-crank, but rather the main nut that holds the crank to the motor.
Here is the youtube testing video...
1969-1972
1973-1982 <--- 73-82 will test exactly the same as the 69-72 with the exception being the 12 volt input wire. You won't have one. All you need is to make sure the case is grounded and you apply 12 volts to the center terminal. Then jump the grounds as shown in the video and the motor should run.
Here is how to remove the switch from the dash pad.
