Very Nice Find! Seems the steering wheel may not be factory, but the rest looks totally original. Anytime you see that clean of an engine compartment it's a good sign.
If you want to experiment with removing the luggage rack, PM me. I have some thin plastic plugs that fit snug in the holes. I scuffed them and painted them body color, and you cant see them until your right on top of the car. The wife wants the rack back on though, she thinks it makes it look more classic. I agree with previous posters on the door gap...common thing with these cars!
Thanks for the heads up on the steering wheel. I never would have caught that. I'm not worried enough about originality to change it back in the near future but it is nice to know.
I was going to tell you that it's never a good idea to ask what us guys think a car you already bought is worth because all it takes is a few people saying you got screwed to take the joy out of your new car and it seems like there are some who will say that any price you paid is more than the care is worth. That's why I will never post what I paid for mine. I'm happy with my purchases and that's all that matters. Having said all that, it looks like you got a really nice Vette for a really good price.
I've actually been surprised that I haven't seen any of the posts saying the car is worth 4 grand tops. Some of the posters on the forum seem to start at the original purchase price in the 70s and depreciate from there.
Either way I'm happy with my purchase. Is is possible that I could have gotten the car for less? Sure, but I also would have been willing to pay more than I did. In the end I ended up with a nicer car than I expected to get for my budget, so I am happy
