Alternator Question.....

Default Alternator Question.....
How can I tell how many AMPS my alternator is on my 81? I want to replace it, but its a mess and someone painted it so I cannot see any numbers. I talked to a guy at a cruise with an 81 and he said his was 100 AMP, but I have not seen any 100 Amp alternators listed anyplace. TIA

Clean the paint off. It's stamped on the housing, 61A, 37A, 100A etc.

Thank you very much, I just took the whole alternator apart and am just about to bead blast the housing to find the stamp. I will then powder coat it and re-assemble. Thanks again.
