This may be a simple maybe even stupid question but.... size-wise, is the following comparison correct:
Shorties: they hug the motor, closer than stock manifolds?
Standard: Mimic the size of stock manifolds but open up the flow more?
Long tubes: self explanatory
My main question is....I have been looking to buy long tubes for my 350sb but am a little concerned with ground clearance and the hard 90 degree turn on the bottom (constricting flow?). Will Standard give me an in the middle fit right between longs and shorties? I was not able to find a lot of info or differentiation on the "Standard" classification vs Long tubes.
Only long tubes will give you a performance advantage over stock manifolds. With the long tubes the 90 deg bend is made with the 4 individual pipes before they reach the collector giving much more pipe area to minimize restriction compared to the same 90 bend made by a single pipe with the other type manifolds.
Also, ground clearance should not be a problem. My headers are not the lowest item under the car.
