Default Floor vent for 1971?

OK. As you all know I am new to the C-3's (first thread "A little loudness added to the garage") I have been seeing in some pics that have been posted here and other sites of a black floor vent in front of the console on the floor. Is this for non A/C cars only or is it supposed to be there? Mine does not have this vent (1971 LS-5 with A/C) and just wondering if whoever changed the radio did not reinstall it or it never existed...buddy of mine has one but don't want to buy if I dont need it.

That is the floor vent from the plenum. Bet you have one under replacement carpet that wasn't cut correctly. Just a guess.
This is my '71 L48 C60 coupe.

Nahhhh. Its not there..just speaker wires...my bet is they removed it putting in the aftermarket radio and did not put it back. Going to get the one my friend has then and hold on to it. Saw one earlier on ebay but the ad said it was for a non A/C car..but yours has A/C and has the vent. Just have not had a chance to dig into the interior yet....dressing the chassis and engine first and doing a good checkover of everything mechanical first. Thanks for the help!!!

Hey X,
Did a little looking back there the other day. Just as I suspected. The Audiovox radio is deeper than an original and the vent would not have gone back in place so evidently they just discarded it and let the air blow out the flat downward outlet. Got the one from my friend but after some inspection it is for a non A/C car (the opening is smaller and more offset where is connects) so that's not going to work. I see no listings for then in the parts catalogs either. Found the dash ducts but nothing for the floors. Are they not reproducing these yet? Just wondering what my next route is for locating one. Any contacts for original C-3 parts appreciated.
