I've been searching for quite a while now on any info about the early C3s that were set for export by the GM, I saw that '71 LS6 that was sold by Proteam that they advertise as a "Export" car, it has a few interesting features that I really need to know if it was added in the assembly line or it was just been added by the owner later on, especially the 250 KPH speedometer which I never saw before on any C3 corvette, also the VIN tag which was riveted just behind the brake booster. Any body has any info. about this car or any other exported early C3 that has similar features?
One of the Corvette magazines did a story on this car shortly after ProTeam acquired it. I read the article, but it left more questions unanswered than information it provided.
It is my understanding the data plate behind the brake booster was installed after the car reached Europe.

Yeah, thats what I thought about the VIN tag, but I still can't find any information about the metric speedo, was it installed on the GM's production line or was it something that has been added in Europe?
The thing that makes me wondering, is that I still did not see any early C3 that has a metric speedo from factory, and I do know a number of GM export cars in my area that has a metric speedo from factory, a friend has a '68 GTO and a '66 Impala that they both have the metric speedo from factory, but I still can't find anything about the early C3s, what makes me more confused, is that my older brother had a '71 Corvette that was imported by the local Chevrolet dealer at the time, but it still has the 160 MPH speedo.
The reason that I'm doing all these researches, is that I'm trying to build a '71 Corvette and make it just like the export version.
There was also an article on the 71 LS6 in the NCRS Restorer and the chassis and some parts were painted yellow.Very interesting LS6 that was bid to 150k at auction and did not sell.
Not concerning this car, but that's an interesting site Mike. About 20 years ago I got a letter from the US (I was the editor of our club's magazine) from a guy named Joe. It included a picture and he was researching the history of his car. Apparrently it belonged to one of our former Kings. Many faxes, visits and letters to our national history museum, the royal family etc they where unable to trace the car.
I browsed through that page and oh yeah the car is on it. Unfortunalty I lost contact with Joe. Hope he might read it although I already posted the question in the C2 section.
Soo cool, small world ...
