There are several ways and I am sure that you will get several different responses to your question. I used Citristrip and razor blades. Citristrip is safer than most strippers and is washed of with water. Bought mine at Home Depot applied it with a brush let is sit until the paint started lifting and then scraped the paint off with a razor blade. I then went back over the scrapped area and cleaned it with a scotch pad and lacquer thinner

Yepper, used both Citristip and Kleanstrip for Fiberglass (used plastic putty knifes ofr removal)... Both work well, but CS definitely smells better (but costs a little more as well)... Couple boxes of scotchbrites and a 5 gal bucket of lacquer thinner and you'll be there...

I went to an aerosol paint stripper available in the automotive section of a Canadian hardware store chain. It bubbles the paint, then I wipe it off with a rag. It doesn't mar the gray primer. I did the whole car in 1 1/2 days. Worked like a charm.

I used Capt'n Lee's stripper available at Zip. It took mine to the factory primer, and I sanded it by hand from there. I used a plastic scraper, and per the instructions, neutralized with water. It sat in bare fiberglass for 2 months before painting. 6 years later, no problems.

Enamel only on the Bowling Green cars; all the St. Louis cars continued to use lacquer.
