Default what to do next?

Totally rehabing the interior of my 1980. I think I am ready to put dash pad back in but want to make sure everything works behind there, only want to put it back in once. Any thing I should check other than the normal. Having a little trouble getting blower motor to work but think that can be tested with dash in place. Thanks.

Anything you test will require a ground as long as the dash is out and the main dash harness is not grounded on the door hinge post.

Welcome to the Forum!

If the total rehab includes the interior carpet, etc, then, as a point of historical context, the factory did a water leak test BEFORE installing the interior.

Thanks, that ground may be what I am looking for. I have most of the connections identified but there is one with 2 eyes that appears to be a ground. Would bhat the the main harness ground wire? I is till in the car and as i remember comes our of a large bundle of wires. Its on the right side under the glove compartment are. I can send a photo tomorrow if that would help. I'm not at my shop today

perhaps consider new foam around the air vent door in the firewall . . .repalce the heater core and replace all vacuum lines?

As long as you're at it- good time to run speaker wire if you're contemplating adding back speakers, sub, etc.

Order the assembly instruction manual (AIM) and take a look at the diagrams showing the installation of the main dash harness. Main harness ground is on the driver's door hinge post. I'm not certain whether 80s had a second harness ground on the passenger's side but I am leaning toward doubting it.

You could simplify your life with the AIM; it shows where it attaches.

New problem. Power door locks werent working. I replaced driver side actuator both switches and harnesses. With driver side switch connected when i connect right side fuse blows. Anyone have an idea what causes this. Fuse didnt blow with old switches and harness but locks didnt work!

You are right. After inspecting I discovered bubba had bypasses the core. Obviously started leaking at some point and didn't want the hassle of replacing. I have new core and dash is still out. Can't seem to find hose connections on firewall from above. Do they have to be removed from under the car?
