The backspace is only 3" meaning the wheels will stick out an inch further than stock. Also the rear 10" wheels would be too wide without flares.

so what is the ideal fit without making modifications? 8.5 width and 4 inch back space?

Factory is 15x8 with 4" back space.
8.5 would also fit fine.

Personally, I think the seller is mistaken about the back spacing. I used to sell custom wheels way back then, and to my experience, practically ALL of the custom aluminum wheels had a 3.75" backspace, no matter what the width was (7", 8.5", or 10").
Just my $0.02 worth...

Not really, that was "standard fare" for custom wheels back then...
