On another post there was a discussion regarding using Reflectix or Dynamat for under carpet insulation that was very useful that helped me choose Dynamat for keeping the heat and help keep the road noise down a bit. I’m getting ready to purchase some Dynamat and trying to figure out how many square feet is required for a C3? Anybody know how much I might require?
I bought one extreme mega pack (9x24"x48") and was able to do the rear completely, the floors and tunnel completely, parts of the firewall and with leftovers I was able to do most of the doors. so no insulation on B-posts - halo.

Found the Dynamat web site had a great pdf that helped with sizing. There they said that a c4 needed 36 sq. which is the same size of the extreme mega pack, figured that would work.
There have been a number of discussions on if dynamat helps with heat as well as noise.
Found a pdf on their web site that has specs that show it does both fairly well.
TO_Vette,
thanks for the Post you just saved me a lot of time I am about to do the same and I also had the same questions about heat reduction and the amount of material. Good luck with your install.
Actually it was $328. I went to ebay and found a few sites all for around that amount and choose the one close to me. It was techronics.com located in Gardena Calif (www.techronics.com). I got 'DYNAMAT XTREAM 9 PIECES 24'' X 48'' for 328.15 plus $28 for shipping.
I just did my 82 with Reflectix and am very pleased with the results. Much less expensive, bought one roll for around $35 and did the driver's and passenger side with some left over. Have not done the rear yet. I have to say that, it is a vast improvement with cabin heat reduction, it is non-exsistent. And that is also with the heater control valve adjusted and working properly.
We have had a very hot summer and I drive home in mid-afternoon in the height of the heat, and with the A/C running full blast constantly, it is very comfortable with the drive. There is no heat entering the cabin as before. Noise reduction, well that's another story, as I like hearing the sound of the engine and exhaust.
Again, just another thought........

I am doing this too...do you happen to have pics? How far up under dash did you go? I'm not taking dash out at this point. I don't care about noise reduction either, cars like this need to be heard!
I did not read the fine print for Dynamat. Got the entire car, every nook and cranny covered and then realized the Dynamat was for sound reduction. Yes, I know, and by the way, stupid only has one 't'. I ended up having to re-do the entire car ('70 big block ragtop) with a dedicated thermal barrier over the Dynamat. I did not use Dynamat's heat product simply because I found one with an advertising presentation that appealed to me. So now I have a car slathered with sound and heat reduction material. All in all, I'm not complaining. The car is mucho quieter and it knocked the dreaded big block oven factor down drastically.
If I could tap into the incredible resources of this forum...anyone know someone to rebuild a 454 water pump and increase the water flow? I don't want an after market pump, I want my original rebuilt.
Bonus points for rebuilder referral in the Houston area, but I don't mind shipping for a top notch job.
Thanks
you can buy the dynomat 'hushmat' , 80 mils, a lot cheaper by the roll without the logo. bout $120 each for 20' rolls. 2 did my entire C4, fire wall to rear wall both doors and even under the healiner with two rolls and had extra. Made the a/c much colder and the car much quieter.
Just saw that and recieved the monthly advertisement mag yesterday where it's their featured product and on sale this month. They offer heat and sound barrier all in one. Pretty convicing video on their website too.

Don't mean to hijack this thread.....here is the info you requested.....
install starts at post #8. I still need to do the tunnel area and the rear, but as I stated, made a huge difference......no more hot feet or legs......
