That said, if someone would let me know the stock thread size (never bothered to mess around with any stock shifters), I've got a spare Hurst ball I could measure for comparison.
The factory shifter mounts to the crossmember. They have been known to bind under high load situations. THe Hurst mounts solely to the trans and moves with the load. And if you want to appear original, some of the vendors have a factory lokk-alike stick that bolts to the Hurst shifter body.
