Default 1970 cooling system

I have a 70 corvette that the previous owner added an aluminum radiator. When I drive the car, it doesn't over heat, but water continuously runs out of the over flow hose. Should I add an expansion tank to eliminate this? I have to add water and anti freeze all the time.

Both the factory rad and my current alum rad run about 2 inches down from the top when cool. My '72 doesn't have an overfill tank. If you refill it to the top, it will purge the excess out when hot and the level will ride about 2 inches down when cool. This is normal at least on my '72.

It seems to be running down about 3-4 inches. I put a new cap on it and that didn't do anything. It seems like there is too many coils showing without water covering them. But this is after it has cooled down. I have been told not to worry about how far down it is on water when it is cold unless I have an over heating problem.
