Default Jeep type steering box

After 4 years of procrastinating, I finally have the Jeep type box from Corvette Steering? finally installed.

Initial thought was that I would need a new valve in the pump, via Borgenson, to correct the pressure, as the car was 'darty'. Just had it aligned and increased the caster to about 2 1/2 *, as it said to do.

I now find the darting is gone and I do not need the pressure reducing valve.

Great upgrade!

As an aside, my garage's computer alignment machine has built in specs for cars 1979 and newer. They were not correct for what I wanted. I gave the garage the specs I wanted and the set the alignment to my wants. I do know and trust the garage, as they work on and inspect my daily drivers. They spent well over 2 hours getting the specs I wanted, and only charged me for a standard 4 wheel alignment - $89.00. Their standard labor rate is $80.00/hr. and I was watching the tech and the computer screen all the time.

I have been dealing with the for over 12 years, and they know me as a 'good old boy' because of the vehicles I drive, the Xmas presents to the owner and mechanics, and the cigars to the mechanic (he is a mechanic, not a technician).

This is why I recommend that you find an independent garage that does good work, and has the newer equipment and cultivate them. If you personally know the people, good things will happen!
