Default Right Rear Brake Light

I posted earlier about my brake lights being dim, etc. Well, I've got an update.

The brakes and turn signals work when the headlights are off. When I pull the headlight switch, they pop up, and the running lights work fine. However, when I hit the brake, the right rear just goes dark, while the left rear works fine. With the headlights on, the right rear turn signal works--but dim and very slow.

My ground was running the right rear in with the rest of the rear lights, so I snipped it and grounded it to it's own spot on the frame. However, same problems. The male connector for the ground into the socket of the right rear is very loose--it almost falls out. In fact, when it is out, the lights exhibit the exact same conditions. Nothing at all changes. The connector seems a bit worn, as it believe it should be one of these:

If it's not, let me know. I'll take a picture of my connector tomorrow and post what it looks like. Thanks in advance.

That ground connector in your light socket has always been a problem. I don't think you can repair the problem without replacing that socket. Good news is almost every auto parts store has them. Take the old one with you.

Same problem I had. I bent the 180 degree bends on the the connector that is shown and used pliers to flatten the connector where it would slide into the socket ground. problem solved - don't know for how long though.
