10 or 15 years ago, I replaced the stock coil in the distributer in my 76. I felt the power and throttle response difference right off the bat. Does a modern MSD high output coil degrade in time like the stock GM coil did? I have a ZZ-4 with MSD wires, 6AL box and the GM distributer that came with the ZZ-4.
My experience is that aftermarket high performance coils, of whatever manufacturer, don't last as long as the original GM HEI coil. I'm not sure the aftermarket coils are better in any regard.
The older I get, the harder it is to remember how long something has been. Closer to 15 years ago. I've worked on this project for 16 years now.... I do remember how dramatic the power increase was!
wasnt bein sarcastic, 5-8 years on a coil no matter who makes it is pretty good. they heat up and cool down...alot , and over time build up resistance and break down inside

Now that's good insight. I know you weren't being sarcastic. I had the car dynoed and they didn't say anything about replacing anything. What you said though makes sense. Thanks......
