double pumper
well I know in the past I have talked about carb issues, so I waited to get either new or correct size until the 4 speed swap was done, I looked and looked and came across a Holley 4776-2 which is a 600 DP.
Most guys will say fix what is there but numerous attempts by mechanic shops and I with no result, I purchased it for 75$ and was in great shape new accel pumps new squirter's new non-stick gaskets etc,
So I asked the guy why you go to a new carb he said had a slight flat spot between primary and secondary, I looked over carb and found that the primary cam was on #1 hole and secondary was on #2 so the secondary butterfly's were opening partially before any fuel from squirter, changed it to number one hole.
Pulled out the trusty feeler gauge set accel pump arms, then set bleeder screws to 1 1/4 and started it up tuned by ear and damn near perfect.
Then the test drive of course, ran through the rpms slowly and no issues
, on way back had to shoot across highway to get to my driveway. Well to say the least lighting up Goodyear Eagle GSC tires without trying was such an amazing feeling from a dead stop, no clutch dump, from a Dead stop. Sorry for the long post just damn excited is all and figured I would
share.
