Default Fixed headlights?

I have been looking at doing a fixed headlight conversion for my 79, but everything I have found so far involves replacing the front bumper. Is there a fixed headlight kit that would fit into the area where the stock flip-up headlights go?

I think it is the Eckler's kit I am looking for, but I went to their website and was not able to find anything. Anyone know where I can get them or have a link?

I have a set of unkown origin. I found them for about 150 bucks on ebay. There was no way I was paying 650 bucks for a fiberglass scoop with lights. If you have patience, you might find a deal.

I will probably look around for a used set as well. Given how they seem to be mostly unpopular with mot owners, I could probably trade my popup lights for a set.

THAT UNpopularity with the NCRS types makes them cheep and a huge advantage, you CAN modify the openings to about 1/2 size front/back measure, and use some junkyard raided later Camaro lights and mounting brackets in the Ecklers sugar scoop trays....

this lends a much more modern look with GLASS facing out and not some foggy messed up plastic for one excuse or other....

UV destruction or condensate.....IF you really actually drive your car, you care to keep it cool and clean you may consider the above suggestions....

see my sites below....

Why do you want to go with fixed headlights? Having trouble with the stock flip-up lights? Or do you just like the look?

Personally, I don't care for the fixed headlights in the stock location, but check this out:

Granted, it would be a lot more work, but they sure look cool, huh?

Personally I like the look. I have never really been a fan of pop-up headlights.

Oh yeah, I have seen those before. They do look sick, but that would be a project for when I have more money to throw around.

Another thought, since the car is registered in MI and I am in NY, just not use the pop-ups and install a set of driving lights in the grill.

There is a forum member who has done that, It looks pretty cool, but I wonder if there are any regulations regarding how far from the ground the headlights have to be.

I picked up a set on e-bay for $550 and then sold my pop up set on e-bay for $650!!! I had no problem installing the new ones with the bumper on. Mine is a 78.

Something like this, or smaller lights that don't pretrude above the body? I've seen a post on vettemod where they put a set of projector lights in a set of these buckets.

I am with you, the stock lights have an ugly bug eyed look and the L-88's not much better besides looking all road race,
The recessed lights you desire are great, if rewired correctly they light the road just fine and I never had "fog" problems,
I do believe my good friend Fiberglass Mike has a set or two laying around, hit me up for his phone number...best part is his old used stuff is cheap.
Cheers,
P.

LOL, Celica lights! I have a set I'll sell ya real cheap! I have a 03 Celica, so I wouldn't put those on my Vette, it'd look like my Vette and Celica have been cross-breading, might as well throw the spoiler on it too (call it a Vettica?) Not a fan of fixed headlights either, but do what You like, make it yours.

Those are the worst looking mods I have seen to a Corvette's lights. Might as well use the stock pop-ups and mold clear plastic wrap over them.

They look a little better withe the covers painted to hide the back of the lights.

But you have a point. They were designed for racing, not to look finished.
