From what I have bin able to research this is a yellow war bonnet. A native head piece worn in times of war and ceremony.

I just bought my 1st Corvette, a 77 L82. Not the original color (was blue) but owner said it is yellow from 1978...

The color was named after War Bonnet raceway. Many Corvette colors in the 60's and early 70's were named after race tracks. Joe Pike the corvette national sales manager and corvette news editor picked the names.

Cool thread...

Off topic and should be on a C7 thread, but wouldn't it be cool if say for 5 grand like BMW and Porsche do that they'd allow you to "paint to sample" or even bring back some limited editions for an anniversary in some of the old school colors. I'm thinking how awesome it would be to have a Warbonnet Yellow or Riverside Gold Z06 . Yeah you could have it stripped and painted or wrapped, but it's not the same.

WARBONNET YELLOW... this paint was approved and checked by the NCRS paint guru... he laid samples on the car and said it is color and metallic correct.
I do have the paint formula - since I am the one who painted the car.
