Default Drivers door operating mechanism

The operating mechanism broke inside the door. I can't open the door from inside or outside. I can't take the door panel off because the door is shut. Any idea's on how to get to the mechanism to open the door. I think the only way is going to be destroying the panel. Hopefully someone will have another idea.

Welcome to the Forum!

First open the PASSENGER'S side door and remove that door panel.

Study the passenger's side lock as to how the lock/unlock mechanism works.

Practice opening the passenger's door lock by running a thin metal rod (with appropriate hooked end) into the lock through the door window gap.

This might show you what you have to manipulate in order to unlock the driver's side door.

Again, welcome to the Forum!

If you have an assembly manual, check the detail . . but if memory serves, there's a horizontal rod that runs from the lock to the latch, and one that runs down from the door handle.

You should be able to hook that and lift it while applying pressure to push/pull the door open.

Good luck - -

When you get the panel off. Push down on the circled part. You Might be able to see it from above

I think you can remove all attaching hardware except lower screws at ends of panel and pull it off top of door to get to lever in sixfooter's post be careful and go slow and you may save the door panel I've done this once many years ago.Good luck.
