Price sounds low, but if the motor is wrong and you add in a complete paint job (paint looks bad in the photo and its clearly had paint work done already... sloppy white overspray all over) then you are already in the red ink.
Engine compartment could actually be cleaned up and painted and made to look nice. Stock components are easy enough to get and it could be suprisingly done quickly. A couple of weekends and a box o parts would work wonders.
I think the sides are awful, (you asked) but its a matter of taste. If you like them, fine, but they hurt value and sellability. To answer your question, not really a "good thing" but if you like them...
OMG those door panels...
I understand being on a budget, but low price isnt everything.
Yeah I hate the door panels!!!!!!!!!!! As for the pipes, I see different pipes on Vettes and none that I really like much. Here's what I am looking for! I want a car that I can drive and enjoy without having to wait for years while I restore it. I want it to look decent and doesn't have to be perfect for now. I think every car I have looked at over the past month under $8000 needs a lot of work and usually paint so my thought is, buy one cheaper that will need the same things but are a little rougher and 8K is out of my price range. I do have about $500 a month I can spend to restore one though..... What say you guys? Is my thinking out of whack?

Reason: Spelling
rather than beat this guy up on the engine mods or the door panels, give him some tips as to judging the real condition of the car-rust and mechanical problems. if the car runs, stops, shifts properly, the a/c works and there aren't any major rust issues, if the poster likes the car, let him enjoy it.

Really it's ok, it is starting to help me understand more what to loook for. Prob with my budget and this being my first Vette, I need to get momma on board for the future! I need a car that she can fall in love with over time....HAHAHA! I did have a few questions I posted though and didn't any input on and that would be great. Example: I posted a second car asking if the body was ruined or worth the work for about the same money.
Neither car is all original within reason. Each will take $10K plus to get to a 'nice car' level. That's why they're going for a dirt cheap price.
Hey Mike, thanks for all your input. One thing I know is a car that looks like the white one is something I would go ahead and drive while I worked on it and is one reason I am considering it. In your mind would you just wait and save up another $4000 to buy one for $8000 or buy the way I am talking about? It would be next Spring before I could do that.
